THE RED RIBBON ARMY was formed in 2003 by front man Colin Coleman. Born and raised in Kona, HI, as well as members J.D. Sakamoto and Cole Dickey.  Colin moved to San Diego after high school to join up with the band Falling For Alba who were also from the Big Island, while still making efforts to gain members for his own project (RRA).  When Falling For Alba called it quits, members Kellen Talada and  Chris Bobek  ( of Chistopher Bobek Photography ) with newly acquired drummer Brad Meyer formed the first official RRA in 2005.  After releasing one EP off the short lived Equity Records with label mates The Antique Row.  The temporary members left to pursue their own endeavors  leaving Colin bandless once again.

Meanwhile J.D. Sakamoto was just graduating from Kealakehe High School and moved to LA to attend The Musicians Institute, Cole Dickey did the same to become a Graduate from The LA Music Academy.  Both living in Hollywood, CA. All being friends from back home they decided to get together to re-form The Red Ribbon Army that is the band you  know today.  Colin moved to Hollywood and the band got writing to release their first full length Album “Black & White, Dark & Light” named after a lyric Colin had wrote referring to the mixture of themes in the music as well concepts of bad and good, holy and evil.  The band played shows constantly and gained a strong local following. RRA has recently released its follow up EP “Death to The Red Ribbon Army”,  referring to the struggles to gain success as a musician in the ever-growing industry of DYI-ers.

The Red Ribbon Army strives to be fun yet innovative when it comes to their live performance with popular renditions of LMFAO’s “Shots”  and Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody?”  looking forward to a life on the road to see where their music will take them.
